Do Mosquitoes love you like they love me?

Mosquitoes Love Me

I do not know why, but mosquitoes just love me – they always have.  They will leave my friends alone, but they will find and bite me like crazy.  Is it my blood type?   “Mosquitoes do exhibit blood-sucking preferences, say the experts. “One in 10 people are highly attractive to mosquitoes,” reports Jerry Butler, PhD, professor emeritus at the University of Florida. But it’s not dinner they’re sucking out of you. Female mosquitoes — males do not bite people — need human blood to develop fertile eggs. And apparently, not just anyone’s will do.”

Last evening, I took out my trash.   It was a quick, brisk walk to my trash dumpster down the walkway, back by the garages and back into my condo.

Within three minutes of being inside my home, I was scratching like mad.   Three lovely mosquito bites.   I was barely outside for two minutes.   No, I did not put on an insect repellent, as I was taking out the trash, not going for a hike in the woods as dusk.  I had to get out the calamine lotion.

Then all night, I kept waking up wondering if the mosquito that got me was a Zika mosquito.  Nice –

I do not think it was a Zika mosquito, but you honestly do not know these days.

The Zika threat continues to grow by the day.  I posted back in April about the CDC and their concerns.  You can read that blog here:   http://franchise.screenmobile.com/what-can-you-do-to-prevent-zika-virus/

Although the virus is contained to South America, it is probable that mosquitoes will eventually make it into the North American continent.  Besides using insect repellent, you can also ensure protection for you and your family by making sure you have properly fitted door and window screens.  Screens need to have a tight mesh to ensure mosquitoes and bugs cannot get through.

Screenmobile can help with your door and window screens.   Check here for a location near you.
