At the age of 60, after 3 years of retirement and some bad
golf along the way, I made a decision to start another business. Having been self employed for over 25 years
in various enterprises, I spent a solid 6 months in evaluating potential
opportunities for my next self employment venture. I immediately focused on franchise
opportunities, since my most successful past business was a very successful
franchise that I had sold at a good profit.
My criteria included; (a) a low to moderate cash investment,
(b) a valuable business service or product to sell, (c) a proven business plan
with a record of success, (d) a market that had not been saturated, (e) a
protected territory large enough for growth and expansion, and (f) the
existence of a strong and established franchise network to provide me with
mentoring and support. Screenmobile was
my choice as the best franchise opportunity.
Next month (August 2006), I will have completed two years of
operations and have been very satisfied with my choice. I found all of the
criteria that I had sought, including a very helpful franchise network that has
provided invaluable advice and the camaraderie that I had previously enjoyed with
my earlier franchise business. Most impressive to me has been the support and
guidance of the Franchisor, the Screenmobile Corporate Office. Unlike my previous franchisor, Screenmobile
is run by top management who have actually done the same work as a franchisee.
They
have spent many years working on a Screenmobile trailer, working with customers
and building valuable relationships with the vendors I use today. They have
provided a level of support to my franchise business that is far greater than I
ever experienced before, including instant telephone support for product and
installation issues, new vendor selection, new product evaluations, marketing
programs, business organization, and staffing. I am convinced that Screenmobile
is, and will remain the most preferred and most referred screening service
company in the industry and the nation.
In 2004, I was closing in on 30 years
with a large corporate company. For the first 25 years I really enjoyed my
career. The last 5 were horrible. A friend of mine pointed me to a website were
he had found a business they had purchased several months earlier. While
bouncing around this website I came across Screenmobile. After doing the due
diligence required, my wife and I decided to go for it. This has been a life
changing decision.
We started our business hoping to match my corporate salary. The folks we had
spoken with during our investigation said we could. I thought “if they’re
lying, I’ll hunt them all down and shoot them like dogs”. Fortunately for
all involved everything we were told panned out. We have enjoyed a tremendous
18 months. Our first calendar year we captured 2nd place in sales in our region. Our lifestyle
has improved significantly to a point where the month runs out before our
money. That has not happened in my corporate job in many years. The benefits
we’ve enjoyed as franchisees have been tremendous. We control our days. We
control how much money we make. We control how we handle people not some
corporate guideline put in place by someone who has lost touch with the reality
of the market place. We offer high quality solutions at fair market prices and
our clients have told us they appreciate it because they have called us back to
do more work and they have told their friends. We’re excited about the results
we’ve achieved, the potential in front of us and the people we’re in business
with. Monty Sr., Scott and Monty L. have built a business on the 2 greatest
principals, respect and integrity. You won’t find a company more committed to

So now there are 3 things to do. First, make the decision to build your own
business. Second, do the “due diligence” to satisfy yourself that Screenmobile
is the way for you to go. Finally, work as hard as you know how and learn what
